# Messages with the store

For vendors > Your store · For vendors · https://vendordue.com/docs/vendor-messages

**In short:** Messages is one conversation between you and the store. Attach the exact payout, line, sale, payment or rate you mean, so neither of you has to describe it. The store's payouts and payments show in the same column. A message can also go by email, and you can reply to the email.

Who: Vendor. Where: Messages.

When something on your page doesn't look right, write to the store in **Messages** rather than by phone or text. The record you're asking about goes with your question, and the answer stays with it.

## Your conversation

**Messages** is "Your conversation with" the store. It holds your messages and theirs, and, in the same column, each **Payout published** and **Payment recorded**. So "did you pay me?" often answers itself a little higher up.

Only you and the store's team can read it. Other vendors never see it.

## Ask about something

The quickest way to ask is from the thing itself:

- **Ask about this line**, under any line of a payout.
- **Ask about this payout**, on a payout.

Messages opens with it pinned to your message: "Pinned to this message". Write your question and press **Send**. The store sees the same payout or line, with its working, and when you ask about a payout, the question also shows on that payout's timeline.

## Attach something

**Attach something** beside the message box adds:

- **A file** or **A photo**, like a picture of an item's price tag.
- **A payout, or one of its lines**.
- **A sale**.
- **A payment**.
- **A consignor rate**.

Each opens a list to search, like "Search by order, like #1042".

## By email

If the store takes messages by email, the **Email** switch beside the message box sends yours to their inbox as well. When the store emails you a message, it comes as "Messages from Fernhill Pottery", and you can answer it two ways: on your page with **Read it on VendorDue**, or by replying to the email: "Reply to this email and Fernhill Pottery reads it in VendorDue."

Messages are kept for 12 months after they're sent, then deleted. Keep anything you'll need longer, like an agreement you reached, somewhere of your own.

## When it looks wrong

### "Not taking new messages from you"

The store has paused messages from you. You can still read everything already written. Contact the store another way if it's urgent.

### The store hasn't answered

Stores answer when they can; VendorDue doesn't hurry them. If it's about a payment, check the payout's timeline first: it may already say what happened.

## Common questions

**Can I message VendorDue instead?** For a problem with VendorDue itself, use Help on your page. Questions about your money go to the store: only they know your deal and how they paid.

**Can I delete a message?** Not once it's sent. Write a correction underneath.
