# Uninstalling

Account > Data and privacy · Guide · https://vendordue.com/docs/uninstalling

**In short:** Uninstalling VendorDue from Shopify, or deleting the workspace in Settings, erases everything VendorDue keeps for your store 48 hours later. Reinstall or recover within those 48 hours and it all comes back. Your vendors lose their page at once, so download your copy and settle up with them first.

Who: Admin. Where: Settings > Data and privacy.

Leaving takes a minute. What matters is what you take with you, and what your vendors are left holding.

## Before you go

1. **Pay what's owed.** Check **To pay** and record anything you've already paid. Once the workspace is gone, there's no record left to settle against. See [To pay](https://vendordue.com/docs/to-pay).
2. **Tell your vendors.** Their pages close when you uninstall. A vendor can download any payout on their page as a PDF or spreadsheet, so give them a few days.
3. **Download your copy.** In **Settings > Data and privacy**, press **Prepare a copy**, then **Download**. See [Your copy of the data](https://vendordue.com/docs/your-data).

## Two ways to leave

| | Uninstall in Shopify | Delete the workspace |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where | **Apps** in your Shopify admin | **Delete workspace** in Settings › Data and privacy |
| What it does | Removes VendorDue from your store | Erases everything, and uninstalls VendorDue for you after 48 hours |
| Changing your mind | Reinstall within 48 hours | **Recover workspace** within 48 hours |
| After 48 hours | Everything is erased | Everything is erased |

Either way, Shopify stops charging for VendorDue when it's uninstalled.

## Deleting the workspace

**Delete this workspace**: "Erase everything VendorDue keeps for this store and uninstall it from Shopify. You have 48 hours to change your mind." Type your store's name to confirm, and confirm it's you.

The store owner, and whoever asked, get an email naming the day it will be erased. For those 48 hours, anyone on your team who opens VendorDue sees "Someone asked to delete this workspace", with the time it will be erased, and an Admin can press **Recover workspace**. Your copy can still be downloaded there.

## What's erased, and when

After 48 hours, everything VendorDue kept for your store is erased: vendors, consignor rates, sales, payouts, payments, messages, files, your PayPal connection, and the key your data was encrypted with. It leaves VendorDue's backups 7 days after that.

Nothing in Shopify changes. Your orders, products and customers are where they always were.

## What your vendors see

When you uninstall, a vendor opening your store sees "Fernhill Pottery no longer uses VendorDue." While a deletion waits, they see "Fernhill Pottery is closing their VendorDue workspace, and your payouts from them close with it. Ask Fernhill Pottery if you need copies."

A vendor who also sells at other stores on VendorDue keeps those, and their account.

## When it looks wrong

### I uninstalled by mistake

Reinstall VendorDue from the Shopify App Store within 48 hours. Everything is as you left it.

### I deleted the workspace by mistake

Open VendorDue within 48 hours, press **Recover workspace**, and confirm it's you. The owner, and whoever recovered it, get an email saying so.

### "The 48 hours are over"

The workspace is being erased, and it can't be stopped. If you install VendorDue again, it starts as a new store.

## Common questions

**If I reinstall later, are my old records there?** Only within 48 hours. After that, VendorDue starts fresh and reads the last 60 days of orders from Shopify again.

**Can I pause VendorDue instead of leaving?** There's no pause. If you want to stop paying for vendors you no longer sell for, archive them; they stop counting against your plan.

**Do you keep anything after erasing?** A short record of the installation and billing history, where we need it for accounting, legal or security reasons. Nothing about your vendors or sales.
